MIDDLE SCHOOL YEAR 5 – YEAR 8

Middle School aims to ease the transition from primary to secondary schooling, recognising and taking into account the needs and interests of young adolescents.

The program in Middle School has two basic purposes:

1. To nurture personal and spiritual growth through a caring transition from Primary to High School.

2. To better prepare students for academic success as they progress through High School.

Middle School provides security and stability with the benefits of a homeroom teacher. The role of this teacher is to look after the welfare and well being of each student in their class. They have oversight of the individuals in their class and are teachers who enjoy being with this age group.

Middle School years are crucial for establishing a good foundation for senior subjects with the introduction of specialist teachers and subjects. As progression through Middle School occurs, the time spent with the homeroom teacher decreases and the role of individual specialist teachers increases. This ratio ensures students are known and cared for more closely. Teaching is built on relationships with students. With this support students remain engaged and enjoy school. The security and care provides a safe and stable learning environment for students.
